Enter the rate, working pattern and tax arrangement. Contractors can also add the expected project duration.
Tax / working arrangement
£
This drives the annualised rate calculation.
Reduce it if you expect unpaid leave,
holidays or gaps between contracts.
Project duration
Optional for Inside or Outside IR35 contracts.
12 weeks
Project totals are scaled from the annualised tax model.
Because UK tax is assessed over the tax year,
actual short-contract take-home can differ where you have
other contracts, employment income, pension contributions
or periods without earnings.

How project duration is handled:
the tax engine remains annualised.
When a fixed duration is selected, project gross,
deductions and take-home are estimated by applying the
selected duration as a proportion of the annual model.
This gives a useful contract-planning estimate but does not
reproduce an individual's final tax-year position.
Important:
This calculator is for indicative educational and comparison
purposes only. It is not financial, tax, accounting,
employment-status or legal advice. It retains the assumptions
in the existing TS4 2026/27 calculator, including the standard
Personal Allowance and no other employment income, pension
deductions, student loans, benefits, Marriage Allowance,
Gift Aid, salary sacrifice, capital gains or other personal
adjustments.
The Outside IR35 model assumes one UK limited company with no associated companies and that available post-tax company profit is distributed as dividends. VAT is excluded.
Project-duration estimates: UK Income Tax, National Insurance, Corporation Tax and dividend taxation do not necessarily arise evenly through a short project. The project-period values shown here are proportional planning estimates derived from the annualised model. Other income or contracts in the same tax year can materially change actual take-home.
